I think that I have completed the photos I want for the exhibit on the 3rd.  I have one 16x20 print that I print with rough edges and I took an image that I had developed as a 5x7 and filled up an 8x10. The other 3 images are 5x7s. It turned out nice. I already framed them although i am not set on the frames yet.  My only problem with the pictures that i have chosen are making sure that they tie together well for my theme.

I incorporated the advice of my friends and the critic of my colleagues from our critic a few weeks ago. Most of the pictures that everyone agreed on kind of went for "an afternoon out" feel. That sort of fits my idea but I think I am going to tweak my theme to convey what I ended up with. I am not changing the theme just the description of it.

I have to decide what pictures to display....I'm at a loss. I really need to take more pictures. I developed a roll last week of pictures that I took in Boston a few weekends ago, but i don't know how those are going to look for prints....hmmm

this week

I am having a terrible time taking pictures this week. I see so many images that I want to capture that follow my theme (sort of)  but I either don't have my camera or don't have time. I am hoping that the rest of the week gives me a little more time to actually focus on taking pictures. The problem that I found is images of people being caught in candid real moments are hard to time, but the ones that I can get surprise me. It is also slightly dangerous when the best images are ones I see when I am driving, which makes me want to ride around with my head and camera out the window. That's certainly not safe, but it would be convenient.

I did shot a couple of images on a Holga camera this week. I am curious to see how they turn out. I shot some pictures at Oktoberfest last weekend and a few random pictures in Carytown, but they felt rushed. I didn't really take time with them. They were just quick shots, but you never know sometimes they come out the best.

B&W Photography Project idea

I love traveling and I love taking pictures. I was captivated by Manuel Rivera-Ortiz photography it combines street photography and traveling.  Most of the pictures on his website include man places that I have been which make it so much more moving. He captured things I remember seeing and things I wish I had seen. It is amazing how beautiful life is.

Another amazing photographer is Steve McCurry. He has amazing color photos that portray life, joy, and struggle some have been published National Geographic.

Due to the fact that I am stuck in Richmond for the duration of this project I really can't incorporate the traveling part. So I was looking at Robert Doisneau's photography... I love his kissing picture even though it has been commercialized into postcards and posters that college students hang on their wall it is still a beautiful picture of how everyday life is breathtaking.
